A friend recommended it and I owe them one
A friend recommended it and I owe them one. Rocket League leans hard into Racing, Arcade, Multiplayer, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. The pitch — Soccer, but the players are rocket cars. — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. If Racing, Arcade, Multiplayer is your thing, Rocket League delivers it without much filler. On paper it is Soccer, but the players are rocket cars., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. If Racing, Arcade, Multiplayer is your thing, Rocket League delivers it without much filler. It helps that the premise (Soccer, but the players are rocket cars.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Worth it, especially on sale.
