Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks
Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. The Survival, Co-op, Adventure mix is what kept me playing; Valheim knows what it wants to be. On paper it is Norse survival crafting with unbeatable vibes., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.

I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me. Fans of Survival, Co-op, Adventure will recognise the pieces, though Valheim never quite assembles them. The idea (Norse survival crafting with unbeatable vibes.) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. Too many systems are introduced and then abandoned. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Wait for a deep sale.
