S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 returns to the Zone with unreal-scale anomalies, mutants and a survival shooter that respects your paranoia.
Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. If Survival, Horror, Adventure is your thing, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl delivers it without much filler. The pitch — Back to the Zone: anomalies, artifacts and paranoia. — is delivered without too much filler. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl wears its Survival, Horror, Adventure influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (Back to the Zone: anomalies, artifacts and paranoia.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
