Special Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes the official digital soundtrack of the game, composed by Aethek & Lustmord, and a 192-page digital artbook including a massive amount of exclusive artwork and research designs from the nightmarish universe of Scorn.. About the Game. Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry. It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself. Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.GAMEPLAY FEATURES. COHESIVE "LIVED-IN" WORLD Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the
Scorn puts lightweight game elements inside one of the most incredible art installations I've ever seen. This makes it a niché title that should be approached with caution, as expectations arise aplenty by looking at amazing image footage, which often cannot be fulfilled and may lead to disappointment. Here's what you'll get: - amazing detailled architecture of a dying world with lots of gore, obscure monster designs, HR Giger style - light survival horror elements with limited combat and resources (health, weapon ammo) - light puzzle elements which don't offer too much challenge - huge areas, mostly labyrinth-like passages with open areas mixed in - a story told through gameplay Here's what you won't get: - a DOOM-like action shooter - a map, you have to learn to get your way around by memorizing the environment, which can be tough in larger map parts - a story that gets openly explained, you'll need to interprete it on your own Overall a great experience for all those who love to explore a beautifully crafted gore world that speaks a story by its design.
Let’s just say right off the bat that I love Scorn but it is not for everyone. I would describe this as a “Dark Souls” of Walking Sims in that it can be very unforgiving and difficult in places. If you are expecting a shooter then turn around and head back out the exit because Scorn is a linear walking sim with some very dicey shooting mechanics. But if you are interested in taking a stroll through an H.R. Giger inspired alien world and piecing together a strange tale of life and death told through a mashup of viscera and technology then oh boy, Scorn might be a great way for you to spend half a day. Honestly, looking back on the game the more I appreciate it. THE PROS
If Steam had "Neutral" rating I would choose it. But I have to go with "Not recommended" in this case Good: - Great visuals and sound design - Amazing atmosphere Bad: sadly everything else - there is not really any story (some explanations are available in Art book which you have to purchase separately for hefty price) - horrible combat - areas look great, but soon you realize that it kind of looks the same and you can get lost sometimes and have to do lot of backtracking - puzzles are not fun - no reason to replay, there is nothing new to discover or experience (you can get additional achievement for solving the first puzzle different way but that's it) - very short (which is not so bad in this case). First playtrough without hints took me over 3.5 hours. There are videos on YT showing this game can be completed under 3hrs - very high price for what it is. This should be 20Euro/Dollar game - I had a bug at the end where my character got stuck and had to reload It was interesting experience, I wouldn't say "fun", but I would not recommend it for the full price. Get it with huge discount. If the game had better storytelling/lore to explore and reasonable price I could excuse the horrible combat and annoying puzzles
