A friend recommended it and I owe them one. NBA 2K26 wears its Sports, Multiplayer, Sim influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — The annual basketball sim with the deepest career mode. — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. NBA 2K26 leans hard into Sports, Multiplayer, Sim, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (The annual basketball sim with the deepest career mode.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Worth it, especially on sale.
