. Admiral John Byng who spent his life sailing the seas for the British Navy, died in 1757, by bullets on the deck of HMS Monarch. Admiral Horatio Nelson, carrying on with the utmost duty, fell similarly to a French musket shot in 1805. Now it is YOUR turn to sail the seas of the Age of Sail. But it would be wise to approach the subject cautiously: practice, improve your skill and your ship and connections with allies. Then you can commandeer best vessels: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear lamentations of their women in global chat. . ........................................................................................................................................................ Naval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.. . Age of sail combat is a personal affair with no dirty tricks, corner camping, or hiding in bushes: you see the enemy from 20km and so do they. Just like in boxing you have to get close; and use all your tactical knowledge of wind, your ship to slug it out face to face
After 350 hours, I can firmly say this game has done nothing but go from bad to worse. Every patch these developers release is another steak straight thru the heart of what should be one of the best niche games of the genre. I played thru the exploits in PvP, I played thru economy crashes and constant patch rollbacks, I played after they removed half the missions and game modes without so much as a warning, I even played after they took EVERYTHING from my account unnanounced for a full reset TWICE for "Balance purposes". Aggressive, predatory DLC practices have dominated this game for years and the latest patch has positively torpedoed anything the game had left. My breaking point, after everything above was I wanted to do a mission. Just a mission. I was told the mission allowed up to 5th rate ships, I selected my 3 finest frigates and headed out. Upon arriving, somehow not encountering a pirate blinking into existence directly outside my harbor, I noticed I not only was alone, but the enemy fleet totalled 3 2nd rate ships. For the uninformed, that makes me outgunned 264 guns to my 44 since, apparently, you CANNOT bring AI fleets into missions anymore, despite you needing to be SPEC'D into a build SPECIFICALLY to command multiple ships. DO. NOT. BUY. You WILL get ganked by a player exploiting the open world system, you WILL be chased and destroyed by a player with a ship fundamentally, functionally and LITERALLY unstoppable to a new player, you WILL have to grind for hundreds of hours for meaningless rewards that add and change nothing, and you WILL regret the time invested. I know I do.
Hi, new player here. First comment ever on a game, hope this will help someone out there. I like sail ships and that's why I'm here. From what I gathered there is a new mechanic called safe zone that allows people like me, newbs, to survive long enough to learn the game. I am a casual player, not a tryhard, and when I feel comfortable I will go and battle with those guys with thousands of hours of play but .. not for now. I am more than happy with the PvE for now; it allows me to practice gunnery, sailing and trading, and just sail around and explore. It seems that the reason so many players are writing negative reviews, is the fact that they can't massacre new players at will anymore. I have a lot to learn about this game and its mechanics: it can be very easy to play or, as complicated as you want it to be due to being so detailed. And those ships are really beautifully. Try it out, it is worth it ! Now let see how many down votes I receive :)
This game was promising and lots of fun several years ago. Unfortunately, greedy and ignorant Devs pushing expensive DLC and P2W tactics has ruined things. Also, although they say they welcome "constructive criticism" and during the EA period of this game (which was several years long) they claimed to solicit feedback in order to make the game better this is not the case. Anyone and everyone who posted anything even slightly negative about the game on official forums was banned by the devs, who apparently only want feedback as long as it amounts to "your game is great, don't change a thing". Many people were pissed off by this and there has been an ever-dwindling player base for years. In response to a post here on Steam from Game Labs saying that the game was coming out of Early Access, I decided to mention this fact in the comments and, guess what? I was also banned! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOL way to prove my point, you childish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Your game deserves to flop out of Early Access dead on arrival. You'll never get another cent from me for any of your future games. WORD OF WARNING: Avoid these developers like the plague, they are incompetent narcissists and not deserving of your money.
