My son said he's got a game he thinks I'd be interested in so I watched him play Mudrunner

My son said he's got a game he thinks I'd be interested in so I watched him play Mudrunner. He has the ability to make hard things look easier than they are and he made Mudrunner look, not easy but at least do-able, and I thought it looks like fun and a challenge so ok I'm in. At first I found it hard, frustrating, too much for me and almost gave up, but when I got over this and discovered other trucks to use, better ways to do things and I began to understand the maps, I felt a lot more comfortable and confident. And so, unknown to me at the time, my addiction began. I became competent then more experienced and now I have a truck, the Oshkosh M977, that will take me anywhere I want to go with a trailer and combined value of 8 points per load, so there's just one load to each mill. I fell in love with the brutality of the wilderness and became obsessed with the isolation from humanity, and wanted so much to actually be there, and this is my fantasy; I live here and this is my job. Whichever map I go to my garage has all the mod cons of home; a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with electricity, running water, plenty of toilet paper (wouldn't want to run out of that out here) and a big bedroom for my comfortable queen-size bed. I get food and all my supplies dropped in once a week by chopper and I'm here all by myself, all alone, no people, and loving it! I'm totally in awe of my new existence and can't get enough, even when I'm going to sleep at the wheel and running of the road I'll wake up and keep going, even start a new map, because I just don't wanna leave. Oh, and of course, I also have the best gaming computer and in my spare time when I'm not fighting with the environment and delivering logs, I can play Mudrunner.

Still thinking about it

I want a version of this where it's World War Two and you're tasked with delivering supplies, soldiers, and artillery guns to remote locations on the Eastern Front.

As someone who works on diesel engines and has drove vehicles like this in the military, this game is awesome

As someone who works on diesel engines and has drove vehicles like this in the military, this game is awesome. The attention to detail is incredible. your tire tracks are permanent even if you made them 5 days ago in some remote part of the map. If you drive in the same ruts over and over it just gets muddier and tougher to get through. I think they actually made the leaf springs bend and flex. Even running over trees is realistic. It truly simulates driving in muddy off-road enviroments. I love how you really have to think about your actions as if you screw up, your only real options are to salvage your vehicl or abandon it (and your hard earned truck-full of lumber). It'd be better if their was more variety of trucks, like maybe have a bulldozer or RT crane. Only complaint is the log crane. Ugh, wierd controls. Otherwise they nailed it with. They did an incredible job on this game.
