I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. The Cozy mix is what kept me playing; MONMUSU knows what it wants to be. On paper it is You are an up and coming summoner and a lover of monster girls. Earn money to, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. Worth it, especially on sale.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. MONMUSU wears its Cozy influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (You are an up and coming summoner and a lover of monster girls. Earn money to) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. I will be back for another run.
