About L.A. Noire

Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood’s Golden Age, LAPD detective Cole Phelps is thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success. Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what’s right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies, and brutal murders, battling the L.A. underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core. Solve brutal crimes, plots, and conspiracies inspired by real crimes from 1947 Los Angeles, one of the most corrupt and violent times in L.A. history, as you attempt to find the truth in a city where everyone has something to hide. Utilizing revolutionary facial animation technology that captures every nuance of an actor’s facial performance in astonishing detail, L.A. Noire blends breathtaking action with true detective work for an unprecedented interactive experience.

Still thinking about it

L.A. Noire is one of the few games out there that forces the player not to strategize, but to analyze. You’re studying the human face, gathering evidence and coming to conclusions based on that evidence. I just love the whole 1940s vibe so much the cars, style, music. Say what you will about the quality of the game, but to this day it is still one of the most distinct ones out there. Rockstar should give L.A. Noire another shot it would do really well.

This is hands down the best detective game I have played

This is hands down the best detective game I have played. I love the noire style, and all the characters are well thought out and well written. There are a few problems with the core mechanics of the game, but they do not get in the way of the story. If you get Widescreen Fixer to fix the 30fps cap, the game will run like butter. I've only encountered one game breaking bug with Widescreen Fixer and it was in an optional side mission, and you can always just toggle it off at that point in the game. Pros: -Great story -Fun gameplay -Good acting -Likeable, well written characters Cons: -30fps cap without Widescreen Fixer, and even that isn't a perfect solution -Some small, but noticable glitches Overall: I definitely recommend this game, especially if you can pick it up on sale 4/5
