THE GAME. DISTRAINT 2 is a 2D psychological horror adventure game. You are Price, a man who sold his humanity to get a partnership from a leading company: McDade, Bruton & Moore. DISTRAINT 2 follows on from the events of the first game. It's a sinister tale about restoring hope and finding your purpose. FEATURES. DISTRAINT 2 has a dark story, but also its fair share of dark humor. The gameplay is simple but effective: You move left and right, collect items, and solve puzzles to progress through the engaging story. Side-scrolling 2D with unique, hand-drawn graphics . Hard to put down
This is how psychological horror game should be done, depending more on human fellings and fears and not on jump scares. In my opinion the game is definitly worth the price mainly because of the story. (I'm still impressed only one person made this game)

Distraint was a surprisingly good game as I stated it in my review in 2017
Distraint was a surprisingly good game as I stated it in my review in 2017. I appreciated that it was a psychological horror with pixelated graphics created mainly by one person, Jesse Makkonen. 3 years later a sequel was released which, interestingly, takes place right after its predecessor finished. The ending almost seemed obvious; I didn't expect Price would get another chance to look back in his past to see what went wrong and to decide if it was worth living. This means that the story now focuses a lot more on these past events, for instance, on the family or friendships Price had. It is a deep look at oneself which means the game is more surreal. Due to it being more personal this time it isn't just horror but a proper drama. It has about the same length and a very satisfying end. I really liked it - apart from a section with some labyrinthine corridors the puzzle-solving sequences are pretty good (at the same time straightforward) and once again the atmosphere is haunting. Thumbs up - if you liked Jesse's previous oeuvre d'art it is no question that this should be in your library as soon as possible.

DISTRAINT 2 took everything I loved about the first game and somehow made it hit even harder. The atmosphere, the story and especially the emotional side of it completely pulled me in. I already loved the first game, but this one stayed with me even more. What a sequel. Absolutely loved both of them.
