A turn based roguelite that feels like: +Dungeons of Dredmore combat (enemies move after you move) w/ Blinding of Issac like maps +Enter the gungeon teleport map traversal so not too much backtracking & various risk/reward gambling loot rooms! +Work with what you have - randomized access to table of all spell lists, weapon types, consumables. +Build your character based on starting weapon/spell combos with currency carryover on death for upgrading future runs +Extremely good UI, colorful graphics for inventory, options, clear layout of character & damage stats. As a fan of dungeons of dredmore, sword of the stars the pit, tangle deep this game is easy to pick up with decent variety of weapon/spell combos that gives plenty of risk reward events. Also has really good mouse/keyboard options. I could easily see this game polish with more difficult fine balances for veteran players. New modes, challenges etc. So much potential!
I just want to point out that the rarest achievement this game has is getting 30 deaths, with only 2.3% of the entire player base actually getting it (based on the time this review wast posted). To give this a bit more perspective, the achievement for beating the final boss is at 10.9% and this is the last achievement that I got.
If you are looking for a longterm Roguelike/lite Game you are wrong here. This Game has 5 Levels and they are on base difficulty not that difficult. After beating those you got around 80-100% of obtainable Items and Skills. Great Game. Interesting Character- and enemy design, cute and polished compared to other Games like Binding of Isaac, Curse of the Dead Gods or Hades. The turnbased combat changes the fast paced Roguelike/lite concept most Games prioritize nowadays and it works really well. There are always multiple ways to deal with enemies and you can play according to your own playstyle. Either single out enemies, cc them into eachother to combo them, go melee, go ranged spellcasting. All depending on what you want to do or what you think will suit your next opponents best. The story is unique but not complex. It's straight forward in what it wants you to understand. If I had things to criticize it would really be the length and story of the game. For a Rogue Game this one is by far shorter than any other one I have played. Heck, I needed longer for an indie developed roguelike Cardgame. You could tell the story of this game to a small child and its eyes would sparkle. Teenagers and above will just skip through the dialogue out of boredom.
