Café Stella and the Reaper's Butterflies is a Japanese-style visual novel produced by Yuzusoft, a Japanese developer of romance VNs. It won numerous awards in the year of its release in Japan for its art, music, and characters. .
A friend recommended it and I owe them one. If Adventure, Cozy is your thing, Café Stella and the Reaper's Butterflies delivers it without much filler. The pitch — Takamine Kousei was living a carefree college life until, one day, he — is delivered without too much filler. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Worth it, especially on sale.
There is a good game buried in here somewhere. Café Stella and the Reaper's Butterflies promises a lot with its Adventure, Cozy setup, but the loop wore thin quickly. The idea (Takamine Kousei was living a carefree college life until, one day, he) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. Performance was acceptable, though the loop repeats itself well before the credits. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Wait for a deep sale.
