How to Give a Gift
To raise your friendship level with villagers in Stardew Valley, you will need to give them gifts, as well as help out in quests and respond appropriately in conversations with them. You can give any individual villager two gifts per week, plus a third on their birthday. The gift received for their birthday has a boosted effect on the gift's friendship rating, so choose wisely.
To gift an item, put it on the bar on your screen and then interact with a villager. You'll know you're about to gift something because a wrapped gift icon will appear on the screen.
In the NPC menu, you can click on every villager in the game and see which gifts they love, like, or hate based on what you've already given them. The number of relationship points you'll get from each gift will vary according to how much someone loves or hates what you've given them.
| Relationship points you'll get from each type of gift | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Type of Gift | On Normal Days | During the Winter Star festival | During the NPC's birthday |
| Loved Gift | +80 | +400 | +640 |
| Liked Gift | +45 | +225 | +360 |
| Neutral Gift | +20 | +100 | +160 |
| Disliked Gift | -20 | -100 | -160 |
| Hated Gift | -40 | -200 | -320 |
If you give someone something they love or like, the item's quality will further increase the number of friendship points you get.
If you're looking for gift preferences for a specific person, be sure to check out their individual pages.

Universal Gifts
