Into Greenpath
Greenpath is the second major area after clearing the Forgotten Crossroads in Hollow Knight. You can find the section to the west of the crossroads and, as its name implies, proves that not all is dead underneath the earth. IGN's Hollow Knight Greenpath walkthrough covers the area, including where to find the Greenpath map and boss encounter.

How to Find Greenpath in Hollow Knight
Greenpath is a luscious, flora-covered area west of the Forgotten Crossroads. To find Greenpath in Hollow Knight, head to the left side of the shaft of the Forgotten Crossroads, above the room where you met Cornifer. You'll find the entrance here.
The entrance is around the halfway point of the shaft and marked by green bushes, with a lamppost outside. Head inside, and soon you’ll find yourself face to face with the same sort of creature that haunted the Snail Shaman’s temple.
Hollow Knight Lore
Just beyond the entrance is a large sign detailing The Pilgrim's Way. It contains a note for travelers making their way deeper into Hallownest. The mysterious message hints at three upcoming areas: Greenpath, Fungal Wastes, and the City of Tears. It reads: "Travellers of Hallownest, descend through verdant wilds and fungal groves to the city at this kingdom's heart. There all wishes shall be granted, all truths revealed."
You once again come face to face with an Elder Baldur, the armored bug you encountered after dispatching the False Knight.
Because the creature will curl into its shell if you get too close, your Nail won’t defeat it. Instead, back up until the creature uncoils, then dispatch it with multiple casts of Vengeful Spirit. Once you’ve killed the bug, proceed, and you’ll soon find yourself in Greenpath proper.
Greenpath has new creatures to contend with and new hazards to avoid. Head left and cross the elevated platforms, but take care not to fall into the bubbling acid below.
Be cautious when walking through the wooded corridors of Greenpath, as enemies will often emerge from the ground without warning. One of the first enemies you’ll encounter will spout clouds of poison, so either employ hit-and-run tactics or use Vengeful Spirit to dispatch them and continue moving left through the area.
Follow along the top of the platforms, heading west.
Hidden Geo Deposit Location
Jump to the ledge up and to the right. Continue forward to find a hidden Geo deposit.
Stop before you get too close to the Geo! There's a hidden flytrap on the ground in front of the Geo Rock. You can hop over it to avoid damage. But to kill the plant, walk over it and quickly return to trigger the bite. Attack it with your Nail or Spells. Repeat the process until its mulch.
Enter the next room and ascend the platforms until you find a spot with a Bench. Sit to save your progress, then drop from the platform on the left side and descend.

How to Get the Greenpath Map - Cornifer Location
Wandering through Greenpath aimlessly probably doesn't sound too fun, so let's find that map!
To find the Greenpath map, take a left at the bottom of the room with the bench and enter the doorway. Inside, you’ll see a warrior cloaked in red standing on a ledge. They will soon move to the next area, and you don’t have the means to follow them at the moment, so descend the shaft instead.
Halfway down the shaft is an alcove on the right-hand side, where you will spot a small pool of acid with a floating platform.
Hidden Geo Deposit Location
Avoid the acid and kill the flying bug inside. Look for a Geo Rock on the ledge at the end of the alcove.
Proceed down until you reach a ledge with a small floating platform just below.
Hidden Geo Deposit Location
Kill the toxic bug patrolling the tunnel and drop below. On the lefthand side of the shaft is an alcove with a Geo Rock.
Continue to the bottom and head through the exit on the right side.
Soon, you'll hear the ho-hum of our friend, Cornifer. Hop up onto the stones suspended by vines, then slash the vines to create platforms and open up the path forward. Continue right to find Cornifer and buy the Greenpath map for 60 Geo.
Greenpath MapYou now have the Greenpath Map in your possession, but it's not the only prize to be claimed in Cornifer's hideaway.
Grub 1 Location: How to Get the Grub Above Cornifer
Exit Cornifer's room on the left side and ascend the floating platforms until you reach the highest one. Leap from the platform toward the upper-right section of the wall, where you'll discover a hidden tunnel! Kill the flying bug inside and slash the vine to drop the stone.
Enter Cornifer's room and use the stone to reach the ledge above the path to the cartographer.
Use the platforms to reach the captured Grub.
Grub 5 - GreenpathHead back to the left and slice the remaining vine holding up the large stone slab (if you didn't already). Drop down on top of it and hop across the spikes and up to the ledge on the left. Slash the other vine ahead of you to unlock a shortcut, then hop down through the floor and into the next area.
Continue downward, slashing vines and dropping slabs to create a pathway forward.
Where to Get the Hunter's Journal in Greenpath
Before continuing with the mission, you should make a trip to get the Hunter's Journal item. Continue down until you spot a hanging stone slab in front of a tunnel that looks as if it's lined with teeth.
Enter the tunnel (it's safe!) and head into the room beyond. Approach the mound of leaves in the cave, from which a creature with six eyes will roar with a warning. Interact with the creature to be introduced to the Hunter, who recognizes you as a fellow huntsman.
The Hunter gives you the Hunter's Journal item. Interact with it on the ground to add it to your menu. To view it, open your menu and navigate to the "Journal" pane. Here, you can view all the creatures you've killed so far.
Killing enough of a particular bug will reveal more facts about it. The Hunter's Journal isn't a necessary item to complete Hollow Knight, but it's a useful tool for those who want to know more about the creatures inhabiting its world.
Hunter's JournalLeave the Hunter when you're ready. Drop below, hugging the wall on the right, and you’ll soon reach the bottom of the shaft and a pool of acid.
Grub 2 Location
Hop from the slab to the Grub and shatter its prison.
Grub 6 - GreenpathHead left, traveling above the acid pool via the floating platforms. You'll eventually reach a doorway leading to a corridor moving west.
Hidden Geo Deposit Location
Ascend the platforms, past the Vengefly. You will find a Geo Rock tucked away against the wall just above a ledge on the left-hand side.
Head back down and take the exit on the left to continue.
Enter the corridor, where you'll again meet with the red-cloaked warrior, who zips away as you approach. Before continuing west, now would be a good time for a quick detour to heal and save your progress. Drop from the ledge where you saw the warrior and enter the hole below.
Hollow Knight Lore
Before entering the hole below where you saw the warrior for the second time, enter the tunnel just underneath on the right-hand side. Follow the tunnel and inspect the stone at the end for more juicy lore bits.
The stone reads:
"Those who stray from the White King's roads shall face the law of Unn."
Proceed to the room below. Take a right and follow the tunnel and enter the next room, where you'll find a Bench. It's a good idea to pop a squat now so you can heal and save your progress.
Return to the room where you last saw the warrior. Continue to the left, killing enemies in the lantern-lit room.
Hidden Geo Deposit Location
Be careful! There's another flytrap waiting below the Geo Rock. As before, you can dodge it or trigger the trap to kill the plant.
Leave the room via the left exit. Here, you face against Moss Chargers, which appear from the ground and, well, charge. Hit them once to remove their leaves, forcing them to retreat.
Be wary if you use the exit on the roof near the end of the corridor. The room contains a platforming challenge that requires an upgrade you don't have yet. You should mark it in your mind for after you defeat the boss of Greenpath.
Ascend the Western Shaft
Leave the corridor via the western entrance and ascend the shaft. Continue until you reach a toll gate. Pay the 50 Geo required to unlock it, then rest at the Bench to update the map and save your progress.
Continue up the chasm, fighting enemies along the way.
Hidden Geo Deposit Location
Slash at the wall until it breaks.
Inside the hidden alcove are two Geo Rocks.
Progress up until you reach the next area, then head right and you'll encounter the Moss Knight miniboss.
Hollow Knight Lore
Before entering the Moss Knight's arena, climb the platforms above the entrance to the ceiling, where you'll find a stone with more lore.
The stone reads:
"The greater mind once dreamed of leaf and cast these caverns so. In every bush and every vine the mind of Unn reveals itself to us."
How to Beat the Moss Knight in Hollow Knight
The Moss Knight can be a tricky customer, but patience in this fight is rewarded. While holding his shield in front, the Moss Knight cannot be damaged with your Nail. Get close, or slash at the shield, to get the Knight to attack. Before the swing, you can get one or two slashes of damage. Quickly back away from the Moss Knight's attack, which is either a one- or two-hit combo.
The Moss Knight can also spit several vine balls toward you in an arc. You can dodge them or destroy them with the Nail.
You can Nail Jump off the Moss Knight's head if you're feeling spicy, and can even damage him that way. But you will eventually prevail by playing it safe and slow. Use your Vengeful Spirit for additional damage, or save up for your Focus heal. When the Knight falls, clean up the Geo he drops and continue.
Follow the tunnel up towards the surface, then turn left, and the environment will begin to look like the Forgotten Crossroads again.
Should You Save Zote?
Continue moving west until you hear the grunts of a bug in potential need. Well, you'd think so, since he's currently in the jaws of a frightening enemy.
This is Zote the Mighty, an NPC you can rescue. Doing so unlocks Zote's side quest, if you choose to follow it later. If rescued, Zote will appear in other areas around Hallownest. Choosing not to save Zote causes him to die, preventing you from completing his story.
How to Beat the Vengefly King and Rescue Zote in Hollow Knight
If you choose to save Zote, you must then deal with the Vengefly King, the bug that was trying to turn the warrior into lunch. Smack the insect, which causes Zote to drop from its mandibles.
The Vengefly King doesn't have many tricks up its sleeves. Legs. Bug arms. Whatever. It will typically take to the air and keep its distance, making it out of reach of your Nail — but probably not your Vengeful Spirit.
The insect attacks by frequently diving at you. Your best approach is to wait for the dive, then attack it with a Nail Jump. Repeat the process until you win.
Zote will soon stir himself to a standing position, where you'll be able to have a brief conversation. He'll chastise you for getting in the way of his fight. Continue interacting until you exhaust his dialogue. You're free to leave after.
Follow the corridor to the left until you can drop back down into the green, leafy region of Greenpath once again.
Hollow Knight Lore
After re-entering Greenpath, travel right over the platforms, passing two Moss Chargers. Continue following the tunnel until you reach the very end.
You'll drop into a hidden hole, which leads you to another stone with some sweet Hollow Knight lore.
The stone reads:
"The Green Children walked from the dream unto these lands. Here we now shall wait, patient, for the call to return."
Return to the shaft when you're ready.
Grub 3 Location
Drop from the ledge to the right of the entrance onto a floating platform. Head to the area below it and to the right. You'll know you're there when you spot another Moss Knight waiting in front of a gate.
Defeat the Moss Knight to raise the gate and rescue the Grub.
Grub 7 - GreenpathHow to Unlock the Greenpath Stag Station
Descend the shaft, then head right and slash the vine to unlock a shortcut. Continue down into the next area and you'll find the Greenpath Stag Station to your left.
Pay the 140 Geo to unlock it and sit at the bench to update your map and save.
Head to the Boss Room
After unlocking the stagway, return to the previous area and take the first exit to the left, following the path until you reach the Hornet boss encounter.
