I bought this game with hopes of actually playing it. Instead I need another $100 to buy the rest of the game... that I already supported and paid for.... Shiro Games drank the private equity kool-aid and it's been a ♥♥♥♥ show ever since. Cathay Capital invested 50mil Euros... and they want a hefty return on their investment... so the CEO forced their devs to suffer through making these DLC's. Your own teams went on strike for grueling schedules and deadlines while making these DLC's that no one wanted or asked for... But it turns out we do want it... because it's actually the rest of the game... that we essentially now have to buy more than two times over. Your $35 game has over $100 worth of DLC. You have lost all my respect from here on out. I genuinely hope the players boycott Shiro Games. These devs need to move on and find a better home because Shiro is apparently just more cancer for the community.
They’ve ruined the game. It’s unplayable unless you own specific DLCs. Let me explain: At first, they only released "expansion-style" DLCs (new zones) for the post-game, but now they’ve started releasing DLCs that slot in between the base maps. This has thrown the level balance off, and their solution was to raise the level of the zones following the DLC. Consequently, if you don't own that DLC, you can't progress because there’s an absurd level jump (occurring before Ludern atm) that is designed to be bridged by the experience gained from completing that DLC. Essentially, if you don't have that specific DLC, you can't beat the game—even if you own all the others. TL/DR: So, if you buy this game you can't get through it without some DLCs. Edit: I'm not complainig about the fact that you can't complete one DLC without others (you need Belerion -lvl 11-13- to beat Skelmar -lvl 13-15- because base game ends at 12), which is something I don't like but I can understand. I'm complainig about the fact that you CAN'T beat de BASE game without "mid-game zones" DLCs. Edit 2: Comments saying "that's not true because despiste it's actually true that you can't finish a "fixed-level" run (balanced and "intended to play" one) you can either (i) play on easy difficulty and spend +30 hours farming xp and resourse to reach Ludern lvl or (ii) play an adaptative run (which is the most unballanced and disgusting mode anybody ever played)" are trully hillarious. Ignoring an existing problem isn't the same as solving it.
I like the base game, but out of principle I have to say ♥♥♥♥ the devs. I don't want to encounter ads for your DLC's in the game world. If I could play the release version of your game where I wouldn't constantly run into NPCs and adventures I can't engage with I would be having a much better time. Every 20 minutes I encounter a cool location just to enter and see it's an ad and something I can't do. If the DLC isn't enabled, don't make it visible in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game world. If the base game was free to play, I wouldn't bat an eye at it and it would seem perfectly fair and appropriate.
