Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Walking Simulator leans hard into Adventure, Sim, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (The year is 2020, world war III destroyed the civilized world. You are the last) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Worth it, especially on sale.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Walking Simulator wears its Adventure, Sim influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — The year is 2020, world war III destroyed the civilized world. You are the last — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. Easy recommend at full price.
