A friend recommended it and I owe them one. VRChat wears its Adventure, Cozy, MMO influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (Join our growing community as you explore, play, and help craft the future of) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. VRChat leans hard into Adventure, Cozy, MMO, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. On paper it is Join our growing community as you explore, play, and help craft the future of, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. Worth it, especially on sale.
