I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me

I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me. The Cozy, RPG, Strategy side of TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. What it promises (TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children is the first season of a turn-based strategy) is more interesting than what it actually does moment to moment. Too many systems are introduced and then abandoned. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Not for everyone, and not for me.

A friend recommended it and I owe them one

A friend recommended it and I owe them one. TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children wears its Cozy, RPG, Strategy influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children is the first season of a turn-based strategy — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. There is more content here than the price suggests. Worth it, especially on sale.
