Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. If Action, Adventure, RPG is your thing, SULFUR delivers it without much filler. The pitch — SULFUR is a modern old-school action-adventure: Outsmart enemies, find — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Worth it, especially on sale.
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. If Action, Adventure, RPG is your thing, SULFUR delivers it without much filler. It helps that the premise (SULFUR is a modern old-school action-adventure: Outsmart enemies, find) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Worth it, especially on sale.
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The Action, Adventure, RPG mix is what kept me playing; SULFUR knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (SULFUR is a modern old-school action-adventure: Outsmart enemies, find) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. I will be back for another run.
