Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Subnautica: Below Zero leans hard into Survival, Adventure, Story, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (Arctic depths, sharper story, same leviathan fear.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. There is more content here than the price suggests. I will be back for another run.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. If Survival, Adventure, Story is your thing, Subnautica: Below Zero delivers it without much filler. The pitch — Arctic depths, sharper story, same leviathan fear. — is delivered without too much filler. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Worth it, especially on sale.
