Ryse: Son of Rome feels like a Call of Duty single player campaign taking place during the Roman era, which may tell you everything you need to know. Insane production value, gorgeous visuals (even by today's standards), cinematic music, and a straight forward narrative with even more straightforward mechanics. The simple timing based Arkham-esque fighting style can get a tad repetitive, however the stylish executions ensure things never get stale visually, and played on the highest difficulty setting the games challenge never wavers throughout the entirety of its run time, so even if not very robust, the combat will test your ability. It's a simple, focused vision executed very well. And for 10 bucks you're getting a solid 6 - 9 hours of gameplay depending on your difficulty of choice. It's dumb, bombastic fun, and I'd recommend at what is now full price, and on sale I'd say it's a must buy if dumb fun is your thing. Certainly not for everyone though.

So I finally decided to buy it in 2017 to see how good or bad Ryse: Son of Rome actually is, here is my review. Graphics:
