This game, and the other games of this dev, are the textbook definition of 'market segmentation'

This game, and the other games of this dev, are the textbook definition of 'market segmentation'. Since Mudrunner, every new sim released is one step forward in some aspect, and one step back in another. Instead of iterating on the genre into better and better games, they innovate on one core game idea, while dumbing down others that were excellent in previous games. Case in point, now in Roadcraft we finally are able to effect change the game world by paving roads, building bridges that we have hoped for since Snowrunner, but we've lost the exploration and progression aspect of the previous game. Missions are linear and very repetitive, controls have been dumbed down and manual gearbox has become lost technology. RoadCraft is another half-arsed game with some novel ideas that never coalesces into the sim nirvana of exploration, road building, driving in mud we have waited for since Mudrunner. All we can hope for the next two years is two dozen DLCs releasing trucks we've seen in previous games, until the next iteration that will yet again keep blue-balling all the sim construction fans. Recommended on sale if you like the genre.

Ok, so I've seen a lot of confusion in the reviews - it is not Snowrunner, it is not Expeditions

Ok, so I've seen a lot of confusion in the reviews - it is not Snowrunner, it is not Expeditions. This game doesn't focus so much on simulating the big trucks and offroad experience. This is it's own thing focusing rather on the aspect of completing objectives and removing the effects of natural disasters. The fuel consumption and most of the damage model that you've probably known in Snowrunner doesn't exist here. There's no vehicle customization as well. As much as it seemed strange for me at the beginning, I quickly learned that this would quickly make the game tedious. Snowrunner was focusing on a small scale tasks that sometimes required several vehicles. Here you will engage in multi-vehicle operations at all times. Now imagine constantly needing to refuel or repair your vehicles. It would be a nightmare. But it would be cool if the devs considered adding option to switch these things on if someone is masochist :D

In the games current state i would not recommend playing

In the games current state i would not recommend playing. The whole point of the game it to clear, repair, and add new infrastructure to area struck by disasters. But what you can do to accomplish those goals is so limited and head ache inducing. The heavy equipment selection is limited and can interact with a very small portion of the environment. You can't clear large boulders or structure obstacles. The actual road building is terrible, you can spend hours trying to flatten sand to get a sub par road that the ai vehicles still can't path. They have pipes but you can only drain areas that are part of main objectives nothing else and the logic behind some of the decisions to restore areas just don't make sense. Let's not clear a road and restore it. Lets just do a 3 mile detour through swamp and mud and get every vehicle stuck or flipped over. I think the devs need to polish their game and make it make more sense, they need to listen to some of the feed back and actually apply it to the game. But I guess we are just gonna get some dlcs instead, another classic hype up the brand and drain the wallets.
