I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed
I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. The Action, Sim, Strategy mix is what kept me playing; Onward knows what it wants to be. On paper it is Onward is the most immersive tactical VR shooter. Join your squad for a wide, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Onward wears its Action, Sim, Strategy influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — Onward is the most immersive tactical VR shooter. Join your squad for a wide — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
