Such a classic. I'll never forget the many hours me and my brother put in this game right when it came out. What, you haven't bought it yet? Here, I'll pay :)

Worth every hour
Long before Deep Rock Galactic, and long after Left 4 Dead's hayday, one of my most fun and casual drop-in co op games was Helldivers. You could jump in, do badly, and no one really chewed you out. Losing was just part of the fun, and if things got too bad people would just leave the mission rather than rip you a new one. Even in now here in 2024, nearly a decade later and a few days before Helldivers comes out, the extremely chill atmosphere is still there. People are still dying to stupid things and not worried about it. All of the last-minute reinforcing, nail-biting seat-of-pants wins right at the end still happen. All of the hilariously absurd slaugthers of a squad 30 seconds in to a mission still happen. All of the "hey sorry. hey, no sweat" exchanges happen. It's still good clean fun where the worst you'll probably encounter is someone with their mic open and their TV playing too loud in the background or people mumbling in languages you don't understand.

Even with Helldivers 2 out, this game still has a reason to play it. If you have a lower end machine, don't have $40 to spend, or simply prefer the top-down camera angle instead of third person, feel free to check out this game.
