Helldivers 2 last night: three orbital strikes, two friendly-fire incidents, one democracy. Never change, Arrowhead.

Helldivers 2 is co-op democracy at gunpoint: friendly fire is always on, orbital strikes are always late, and the galactic war is genuinely shared.
I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If Action, Co-op, Shooter is your thing, Helldivers 2 delivers it without much filler. The pitch — Co-op bug-squashing democracy, best served chaotic. — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. I will be back for another run.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Helldivers 2 wears its Action, Co-op, Shooter influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — Co-op bug-squashing democracy, best served chaotic. — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
