About Hatred

Hatred fills your whole body. You’re sick and tired of humanity’s worthless existence. The only thing that matters is your gun and the pure Armageddon that you want to unleash. You will go out for a hunt, and you will clear the city's outskirts of all humans in cold blood. You will shoot, you will hurt, you will kill, and you will die. There are no rules, there is no compassion, no mercy, no point in going back. You are the lord of life and death now - and you have full control over the lives of worthless human scum. You will also run, you will need to think, you will need to hide and fight back when armed forces come to take you down. You will have no mercy for them, because they dare to stand in your way. Only brutality and destruction can cleanse this land. Only a killing spree will make you die spectacularly and go to hell.

Still thinking about it

This game captures exactly what it is supposed to capture: The pointlessness of a violent world-hating rampage carried out by someone who hates themselves and sees themselves reflected in the world. It isn't fun. Its distant, black & white, and actually somewhat boring. There is a catharsis to it. It is one of those little gems in video gaming that proves video games are an art form, because this feels like playing an interactive gallery art project. It enters the player into a world / world view (a mirror looking at a mirror), forces the player to adopt the character's mentality, and work through goals set for him as he interacts with the world. Movies are non-interactive, books are open to misinterpretation, painting is very limited. As a video game, Hatred does what its creators I think set out to do. It definetly doesn't encourage shooting sprees. Once you hate yourself and your life so much, no matter what you do and what you acheive, whatever you think your life goals are or aren't, it pretty much doesn't matter. It just says a miserable spiral of self destruction isn't the world's fault, its your own, and if you hate everything you do anyway that will include whatever desperate final act you decide to commit. By working through the rampage fantasy it defeats it. I think Hatred makes a point that is worth understanding and does a good job of conveying it.

Easy recommendation

I work for Walmart, so this is a game I definitely like to sit down and play after a tiring 8 hr shift of dealing with some of the most unhinged people you could imagine.
