I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If Sim is your thing, Hardspace: Shipbreaker delivers it without much filler. On paper it is Equipped with cutting-edge salvaging tech, carve & slice spaceships to, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Worth it, especially on sale.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. Hardspace: Shipbreaker leans hard into Sim, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (Equipped with cutting-edge salvaging tech, carve & slice spaceships to) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Worth it, especially on sale.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. Hardspace: Shipbreaker wears its Sim influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. On paper it is Equipped with cutting-edge salvaging tech, carve & slice spaceships to, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. I will be back for another run.
