I heard that GTA IV has one of the best stories in the GTA series, but I think we never play GTA for the story. We play them because they always do something incredible for their generation: mechanics, graphics, and overall gameplay, with some little spicy things in their world and story. GTA IV is one of a kind and probably did all of this at the time in the best way. But not for today. After all these years, the game has a lot of bugs, like cutscenes being broken, NPCs getting stuck everywhere all the time, or some of the vehicles being a complete pain in the ass, like bikes. Besides those, most of the missions are way too scripted, and it totally kills the open-world vibe. Maybe it works for people who have nostalgia for this one, but not for someone like me playing it for the first time in 2026.
GTA 4 is simply the best in MANY aspects! (although it lacked some things to be considered "perfect") The story of 4 (Niko Bellic): not only is it deep, but it's well-written, well-crafted, and even dark! It takes the king's throne, leaving aside the stories of 5, San Andreas, and Vice City, particularly speaking! The gameplay: Rockstar adopted a culture of realism that is truly frightening... in a good way! Even the driving is realistic, and I think it's brilliant. ALTHOUGH, some arcade gamers will disagree with me and say it's slow, "crappy," and that it has to be fast. When Mafia 1 had cars from the 1930s in Italy, not the current Ferraris or Lamborghinis... nobody complained, lol. Besides, you can use your cell phone to text, call people, go to bars, bowling alleys, stand-up comedy, pool halls... You get so drunk it affects your driving... amazing, lol. The online mode, back when it was open, had fun game modes! And the expansions are fantastic! So I recommend GTA 4.
It was mostly lies, I didn't see luxury condo, or a sportscar, or barbara with big titties, and stephanie who sucks like a vaccum. There was no american dream, it was all dark, grim, and harsh reality of new york.
