This game is like if H

This game is like if H. P. Lovecraft forced old DOOM and new DOOM to have unprotected sex while borderlands filmed the whole thing, and honestly I'm here for it.

Serious Sam meets Lovecraft

Serious Sam meets Lovecraft. Lots and lots of strafing, running, gunning, and dodging all kinds of projectiles. Enemies are straight out of a Lovecraft novel, scary looking in all their 2D bitmap glory. Plenty of guns are to be had with lots upgrades to both the weapons themselves and enhanced skill sets to black/white magic capabilities. Graphics: 3D with lots of 2D bitmaps splashed around for detail. Enemies are grotesque in all their bitmap glory. Very retro. Think Doom in the early 90's. Sound/Music: Scary. The tempo for the music increased when enemies are nearby. Sound from the enemies are also very unsettling. Overall, I highly recommend the game to all FPS shooters out there, especially those looking for a retro experience.

Not the game for me

Pro: + Beautiful comic book like artstyle + Some of the weapons are very fun to use + Good Level Design for most of the game + Some Good Bosses Cons - Enemies in the final chapter of the game are boring bullet sponges - Redundant padding via boring platforming sequences - The upgrade system is completely broken it dies halfway of your playtrough when you need millions of exp for 1 point - Some of the weapons upgrade are underwhelming and borderline useless - Ditto for some of the character powers It pains me to give a negative review to 'Forgive me Father' since this game starts on all cilinders, the lovecraft inspired atmosphere is great, the initial battles with your enemies are amazing and the map design flows pleasantly. And then you reach the end of Act 4 and the entire game devolves into garbage, hordes of enemies with far too much HP and annoying unfun mechanic (constantly sliding on the floor, flying far too fast for any non hitscan weapon to hit..etc etc) far too many arenas and annoying platforming session in the dark and cherry on the ♥♥♥♥ cake one of the most boringly annoying final bosses i've ever defeated (you know whats fun? a tiny microspic arena, a bunch of high damage AOE attacks from the boss and AN IMMORTAL ADD THAT KEEPS FOLLOWING YOU) which results in one of the most insultingly bad ending i've experienced in decades of gaming. Clearly this game was made with love and i know an upcoming patch is trying to fix most of the cons but i do not plan to play 'Forgive me Father' ever again: 5.5/10
