DO NOT BUY - Completely unplayable on modern systems (Permanent Black Screen on startup)

DO NOT BUY - Completely unplayable on modern systems (Permanent Black Screen on startup) F.E.A.R. 1 runs completely fine. F.E.A.R. 3 works right out of the box. But F.E.A.R. 2 is an absolute technical disaster on modern Windows. The game crashes into a permanent black screen right upon launch. I have tried every single community fix available: Editing settings.cfg (toggling fullscreen, lowering resolution to 720p, forcing 60Hz, disabling Vsync). Forcing launch commands via Steam options (-windowed, -width, -height). Dropping wrappers into the directory (DXVK, dinput8 hooks, DirectInput fixes). Changing audio sample rates to 16-bit/24-bit 48kHz and adjusting DPI/compatibility settings. Disconnecting USB peripherals and gamepads. Absolutely nothing works. Monolith and Warner Bros. have completely abandoned this title, leaving a broken port for sale on the store that refuses to initialize modern Direct3D 9 / display pipelines. Save your money and your time. Do not buy this garbage port unless you keep a vintage Windows XP rig lying around.

Wait for a sale

This is probably the best example of the console-ization of gaming awful gameplay barely anything to do with F.E.A.R. and the story feels like it was written by a 13-year-old just a bad game in general there were some peak moments tho it honestly hurts me giving this a bad review

Call of Duty-ified FEAR

Call of Duty-ified FEAR. The first game was pretty great, really liked the gunplay and level design. This game just feels like they stripped a lot of what made it unique, made the guns feel worse and put a worse story with a shock ending to get people talking. Playing it years later and after playing the first game for the first time, its just worse. First games worth playing, this games okayish but i'd say just skip it
