E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy is probably the biggest video game enigma I have ever laid eyes upon, and as such I couldn't exactly give it a "Proper Review". All you need to know is that it's not for people who don't like experimenting and fumbling around in the dark trying to figure out what is going on. This game takes a lot of dedication and can be frustrating to those who will not take the time to figure it out. But you'll never play anything like it ever again. Take that for what you will, I'm going to give this game a recommendation on the basis of how unique and out there it is. I couldn't get into it personally since I'm not a very "Experimenty" kind of guy, but I could never in good conscience thumb down a game that is this creative. Besides, the general consensus is that you will love this game if you can get into it.
Sort of like Warhammer 40K and Ghost In the Shell mixed together except everybody on the development team was freebasing LSD while watching the end of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
this is a very polarizing game - either you hate the fact that you have no idea what you're doing and nothing makes sense, or you love the fact that the game lets you do whatever you want with the mechanics it provides and become a cybernetic god among men and demon. this game has absolutely no qualms about giving you a minigun right out the gate. not a piddly minigun that fires cotton candy and slows you to a crawl - no, a minigun with a scope, that you can sprint with, that shreds absolutely everything you put in front of it for 80% of the game. within a few hours, you can buy a revolver named the bearkiller. there are no bears in this game, but there are heavily armed helicopters and cyberdemons with gatling rocket launchers. it kills those just fine. or if you want, you can use a cybernetic dai-katana (or eventually, a giant anti-tank hammer) and charge your enemies with it instead - yes, it deflects bullets. you start the game with a psychic power that summons a platoon of clones of yourself. you can buy one that lets you telefrag people with a button press. eventually, you find one that allows you to instantly annihilate anything you point it at, at the cost of semi-permanent damage to your own sanity. by upgrading your cyber legs enough, you can sprint at over 60mph, jump over small buildings, and do a hard landing from deep orbit and survive. oh, and you can hack just about anything. including other players. and if you fail the hack, the thing hacks you back, so you have to hack yourself to undo the hack. also there's a story involved that takes like 5 playthroughs before it makes the slightest bit of sense, and honestly with this sort of game, anything less would be disappointing. if any of that sounds appealing, buy this game already
