Wait for a sale
Last week, I would have recommended this game to anyone who wanted a hack and slash romp in a Dungeon's and Dragons setting and in fact had; this week the twenty first update forced users to accept Akamai Netsession with an End User license agreement that says that Akamai can - at any time - turn on funtionality that would make your computer part of their Akamai content distribution network. I can not recommend that anyone install the game with such software forced upon the user especially with alternative distribution methods available to the developers.

This is the worst game that I love
This is the worst game that I love. Please, don't ever play this wonderful game, seriously. Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) is an ancient, slowly dying MMO littered with outdated design choices and archaic graphics. It's filled with obscenely offensive microtransactions that I would never tolerate in any other game. But I've played this game for over a decade, before it was completely ruined by corporate desperation. To me, DDO is a way to enjoy the nostalgic content (much of it is really quite good) with my friends. The game still occasionally receives new content as well. However, it's way too difficult to get into these days, and even harder to be truly top-tier. I honestly wouldn't recommend that anyone start this game at this point in time due to these reasons. That being said, I truly love this game and mourn the greatness that this game came so close to achieving back in the day.
