It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. The Action, Shooter, Multiplayer mix is what kept me playing; DOOM Eternal knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (The heaviest, fastest shooter id has ever shipped.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.

I bounced off it twice before finally giving up. DOOM Eternal promises a lot with its Action, Shooter, Multiplayer setup, but the loop wore thin quickly. What it promises (The heaviest, fastest shooter id has ever shipped.) is more interesting than what it actually does moment to moment. Too many systems are introduced and then abandoned. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Not for everyone, and not for me.
