Frustrating more than fun

I might try to play again this game in the future, but as of now it just annoys me so much that's it's almost comical. Sure, I expected jank and problems and some weird stuff - after all it is a game from 2006 - but first impressions were very good. Sure, I died a lot (can't get the feeling of melee at all, archery is slooooow and magic quite expensive) and story is kinda meh, but game really showcases things that made Arkane famous: interaction and immersion. Guards trying to gang up on you? Drop a box on them. Orcs are too tanky? Kick them off the ledge. Too many enemies? Flip the switch and release the goblins. Fight can be frustrating, but if you manage to pull big play, satisfaction is just as great. BUT! I got to the second (?) chapter and got softlocked, because Tergon hates me! (which is instant game over) Who is Tergon? Dunno. Why he hates me? Dunno. How far back I need to go with loading saves for it to not be the case? DUNNO. He seems to be of so little importance, that Internet can't give me info of who he is, yet must be important enough to derail my game. Thanks for nothing, mate!

This is where arcane studios started it all

This is where arcane studios started it all. From this game all the way to dishonored. Dishonored games adopt similar mechanics to this game. The story in this game is amazing. You need to modify the game in order to play it since its an old source engine game (just google it). 10/10 Game is replayable 5 to 6 times.

A quiet favourite

combat are surprisingly very fluid for its time, many different angle variation for swinging, using objects to attack or distract enemies, truly ahead of its time, source engine is awesome. i wish there was more game like this especially an open world one. ark fatalis has similar thing but i didn't play it that much yet
