It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. The Strategy, Tactics, Multiplayer mix is what kept me playing; Sid Meier's Civilization VII knows what it wants to be. The pitch — One more turn, now across three ages. — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.

The pitch — One more turn, now across three ages. — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. There is more content here than the price suggests. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
