With 1913 hours on Mordhau, mostly dueling, at the time of this review, I think I'm quite credible when I say: this game is better. When we first saw Chivalry: Medieval Warfare come out, it was a game similar to Mount and Blade, War of the Roses, Age of Chivalry, you name it. Mordhau was a polished up version of Chivalry 1, with many in-game exploits being considered "skillful" by veteran players. Mordhau added chambers to the game which paved the way for Chivalry 2's revamped combat system. Differently from Mordhau, Chivalry 2 features held parry on every weapon, and has Mordhau's chambers mechanic rebranded as "counters". Counters are, like chambers, timed attacks that clash your weapon against the opponent just before they strike. Feints and morphs are very powerful in Chivalry 2, but held parry means they are way less punishing and much more forgiving. While Mordhau has a very limited set of unique features (alt mode, undercut strikes), Chivalry 2 has heavy delayed attacks, jabs, shoves, sprint attacks, tackles and special "execution style" attacks for each weapon type. From my experience, while Mordhau is indeed Chivalry 1's spiritual successor, Chivalry 2 sets the standard for a new genre of melee slasher games that are easy to learn, hard to master and addictive to play. It is indeed a game that you should buy, whether you're a hardened melee game veteran or a curious newcomer to the genre. I hope you have as much fun as I am having, playing Chivalry 2.
I love this game. It has so much potential. But neglecting devs are pulling it down and ignoring the community like they are some big studio. They made a great game, grabbed the cash and put the game on maintenance mode since their code is a mess to push it further. They act against community projects like polehammer.net, chivstats.xyz or chivalry unchained and hence give no space for passionate players to realise themselves. A great guy Soter Dave loved this game even more. Gave relevant feedback, constructive criticism and praise where it was due. Bought every battlepass just to support the devs and saying that they made a great game. All he wanted was for chiv to be the best version of itself. The game was his life. He made videos, run events, trained people... But he has been perma banned eventually by the devs since banning the guy who points out the game's problems is better solution then even acknowledging the problems. Sadly, this was also apparently a catalyst that worsened Dave's mental health issues to that extent that he took his life a few weeks after when he couldn't get the devs to acknowledge him and his situation and give him hope that the ban isn't permanent. He couldn't create content, do arranged charity stream... He hoped they come to an agreement. They didn't. Rest in peace Dave. I wouldn't advise on buying this game since then U are giving the devs the only thing that they care about... MONEY. And you get updates with reused content, poor quality filler content, no communication and potentially a ban when you say out loud what you see. Preferably get this game when it goes free for limited time in devs' attempt to keep it alive or from cdkeys for no more than 5€. Thank you for listening to my TEDtalk.
In case you thought the ability to throw beehives in this was just Haha Funny Times For naval battles, the Romans developed special shipboard swarm catapults. They raised bees and kept them in lightweight, fragile earthen hives for the sole purpose of lobbing them onto enemy ships. Angry bees would so unnerve the opposing sailors that they often jumped overboard to escape. The Romans found the stinging insects to be an incredibly versatile weapon against the deck of ships. With nowhere to run and with men crammed onto the decks, bees would easily cause mass confusion and in many cases would even completely clear the decks of ships allowing for a much easier boarding maneuver. Tacitus, in his writings, also mentions the use of bees in warfare as an effective method of clearing out small spaces such as siege tunnels and earthen mounds. While this sounds like a novel piece of ancient history, bees were used for centuries to harry and harass enemy combatants both offensively and defensively.
