There is a good game buried in here somewhere
There is a good game buried in here somewhere. Backrooms: Escape Together promises a lot with its Action, Adventure, Cozy setup, but the loop wore thin quickly. The idea (A visually lifelike co-op horror game for 1-6 people. Journey through 11) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Wait for a deep sale.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. If Action, Adventure, Cozy is your thing, Backrooms: Escape Together delivers it without much filler. The pitch — A visually lifelike co-op horror game for 1-6 people. Journey through 11 — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Worth it, especially on sale.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. If Action, Adventure, Cozy is your thing, Backrooms: Escape Together delivers it without much filler. On paper it is A visually lifelike co-op horror game for 1-6 people. Journey through 11, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.
