It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Apex Legends wears its Shooter, Action, Multiplayer influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — The movement shooter battle royale with the best ping system. — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. There is more content here than the price suggests. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. The Shooter, Action, Multiplayer mix is what kept me playing; Apex Legends knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (The movement shooter battle royale with the best ping system.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. There is more content here than the price suggests. Worth it, especially on sale.
