Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats
Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats. The Cozy, Sim side of Ages of Conflict: World War Simulator is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. It advertises Ages of Conflict is a versatile Map Simulation game where you create and; what you get is a thinner version of that. Performance was acceptable, though the loop repeats itself well before the credits. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Not for everyone, and not for me.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. If Cozy, Sim is your thing, Ages of Conflict: World War Simulator delivers it without much filler. On paper it is Ages of Conflict is a versatile Map Simulation game where you create and, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. There is more content here than the price suggests. I will be back for another run.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The Cozy, Sim mix is what kept me playing; Ages of Conflict: World War Simulator knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (Ages of Conflict is a versatile Map Simulation game where you create and) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. There is more content here than the price suggests. Easy recommend at full price.
