This game is purely based on rhythm, so use your ears more than your sight. Note that it is quite strict and unforgiving. If you've played the Rhythm Heaven series - this is about as strict as that. Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats. Fans of Action, Rhythm will recognise the pieces, though A Dance of Fire and Ice never quite assembles them. It advertises A Dance of Fire and Ice is a strict rhythm game. Keep your focus as you guide; what you get is a thinner version of that. Performance was acceptable, though the loop repeats itself well before the credits. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Not for everyone, and not for me.

A friend recommended it and I owe them one. A Dance of Fire and Ice wears its Action, Rhythm influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — A Dance of Fire and Ice is a strict rhythm game. Keep your focus as you guide — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.
